The unknown of YouTube can be unsettling, but it’s also part of what makes it such a unique platform. One of the biggest unknowns of running any business is how your audience will find you. This puzzle is something that YouTube helps a business owner with and can ultimately help you grow your business to a global audience. As a platform, YouTube wants users to stay on their platform and engage in the content. For that reason, YouTube will try to find a user who enjoys your content and will hopefully continue to return for new releases. After it has collected data on the ideal demographic, it will show your content to users worldwide that might fit into your perfect audience. One of Tyler’s takeaways is how asking for subscribers from friends and family can skew your data collection. When you perform this request and a friend subscribes to help but doesn’t return to the content, YouTube is unsure of your demographic. Staying patient is a challenging but necessary step to letting YouTube do its thing.
