Introducing the Mace to your personal training clients can have major barriers. Swinging a metal implement around your head looks dangerous, but with the right coaching and appropriate load, any client can use a Mace.
In this video, Tyler Valencia goes through three cues that you can utilize when introducing the Mace to your client. First, having your client set neutral spine will help avoid any excessive spinal extension or any unwanted spinal flexion. Second, make sure your client tosses the mace over the opposite shoulder of the hand that is on top in the grip set-up. Lastly, cue your client to toss the mace over one shoulder and to tug it back over the other.
